The World as we know is in danger due to our negligence. The largest production of CO2 emissions is from fossil fuels according , to the EPA,while a greater portion of fossil fuels are used to generate electricity, this in turn causes a green house effect that warms the planet. These green house gases are responsible for global climate change. This effect would strengthen droughts within countries and disrupt ecosystems and even change the climate of an entire region mentioned by Living in the environment . The continued use of fossil fuels will harm the growing of crops in places such as California, which produces more than a third of the countries food supply .To combat the threat of climate change we have chosen renewable energy sources to produce our electricity .Wind and solar energy is the key to the solution as it does not release CO2 compared to fossil fuels.
Solution
The AWEA states "wind power can provide a large, rapid, and a cost efficient part of the solution to global climate change." AlternativeEnergyNews.info says solar energy is clean and provides the key to solving global climate change. They also state "we will never run out of this massive energy source." These are solutions that produce abundant clean energy, but we have not completely implemented these solutions . We have the formula for this problem , now we have to apply it. We promote the building of many wind and solar energy plants throughtout the country, surveying those regions to provide the greatest efficiency and production for specific areas . We will push communities to learn about renewable energy to promote renewable energy resources. As well, pushing researchers to find better ways to store electricity such as the flywheel, a huge storing turbine. Making wind and solar energy a greater possibility and reality
(Graph shows the rise of Carbon Dioxide over a time spread of 140 years)
This graph shows how CO2 emissions have rapidly increased over 140 years, and is continuing to increase. This increase in CO2 is negatively affecting the Earth because of the disruption of weather patterns, rise in temperature, and melting of ice caps.
